Do My Numbers is a set of free calculators for US retirement questions: how long savings might last, what a lump sum buys as lifetime income, what a 401(k), TSP or FERS pension adds up to. Each one shows its working with the numbers you enter, and every table, rate and limit it uses comes from an official source that we name and date.
Free, ungated and not advice
There is no sign-up, no email gate and no paid version. The calculators run in your browser and store nothing; the privacy page has the details.
Everything here is education. A result describes what happens under the assumptions entered; it is not a recommendation. We don’t sell financial products, and nothing on the site is financial, tax or legal advice. For decisions about your own money, a fee-only fiduciary adviser or a tax professional can look at your whole situation.
Who builds it
Built and maintained by a former actuary with qualifications in finance and economics. That is the only thing we say about who we are. We would rather the site be judged on its working than on a name. Each calculator has a methodology page with its formulas, defaults, data and limits, and “Show the working” under every result sets out each step for your own numbers.
How the site is paid for
There are no ads, sponsored placements or affiliate links on the site yet. When they are added, they will be:
- Display ads, placed below the calculators and labelled “Advertisement”. Never above the answer, inside a calculator or as pop-ups.
- Sponsored placements, labelled as sponsored.
- Affiliate links to services that fit an education site, such as fee-only advisers or generic account types. If you sign up through one, we may be paid a fee.
None of these is chosen from your result. A calculator never shows an offer because of the numbers you typed. The advertising and affiliate disclosure sets out the rules we follow.
